Warren Financial hosted it's first annual investor conference and featured Fox News Host, former Governor Mike Huckabee as our guest speaker. The event was held right here in Exton, PA at the Whitford Country Club.
Besides being our first customer appreciation event, it also marked the launch of our second hedge fund which focuses on safe hedged-stock investments as an alternative to bond funds which are suffering from rising interest rate risks.
If you are a family office, pension fund, insurance company, or accredited investor (according to the SEC), then you should be considering how unique alternative investment offerings from WFS could assist in your portfolio.
It's strange these days, but dividends seem to be all the rage. Never-mind the fact that "intrinsic valuation" suggests that a stock or bond is only worth the reasonably sure income stream that can be accrued to an owner for the foreseeable future. Morningstar DividendInvestor editor Josh Peters notes that dividend paying stocks have been outperforming as investors start to realize that "a good bird in one hand is worth two more in the bush".
Obviously, it's a great time to be focusing on strategies to make money through dividend investing.
Wouldn't it be great, though, if you could invest in some really high paying dividend stocks, yet also have some assurance (or protection) that the principle value of your investments would not become correlated with the overall stockmarket during any upcoming crisis? If such a thing were possible, it would be reasonable to invest in a basket of dividend paying stocks which produce 8-12% dividends annually, and rest secure in the knowledge that your stocks won't suffer those kind of precipitous declines experienced by investors in 2008.
Troy Logan, Sr. Economist and Managing Director at Warren Financial went to the podium first on this night to set the stage for some dynamic discussions.
Randy Warren, Chief Investment Officer for Warren Financial went next explaining how dividend investing and low market correlations can benefit investors. Mr. Warren expounded on some of the benefits of volatility trading and tracking the VIX as a major indicator of stock market and economic health.
Finally, Mike Huckabee came to the podium and spoke to the audience about the state of our nation. This was certainly no political speech or campaign stump. Mr. Huckabee offered insights and discussion about the political freedoms we enjoy here in the U.S.A.
In the end, our clients and prospective clients said they thoroughly enjoyed the evening. And we all left more informed about dividend investing, volatility trading, and certainly feeling significantly more patriotic!
Next year, we're considering some entertainment along with a major speaker. Entertainment is always a tough call. Clearly, it's impossible to please everyone. But we can all have fun in the process.
